Here's a good story about what it's like now for us longtime gamers who have been looking forward to the Nintendo Wii and are disenchanted with the idea of the Sony PS3.
I can't get over how ridiculous the supply levels are for both these systems. Why you can't order them online for retail price or weren't able to pre-order them online without taking a day (and early morning) from work, is beyond me. It didn't used to be like this. I distinctly remembering ordering my PS2 online from EBgames and getting it FedExed to my work the day they were released. Why you can't do this or anything remotely like this nowadays is just odd to me. I don't even want to think about why this is.
If nothing else, this is pretty interesting for anyone who has ever played a Zelda game (and enjoyed it).
Some friends had recommended I watch the recent South Park episode where Cartman freezes himself to avoid the painful anticipation of waiting for the release of the Nintendo Wii. They obviously know me enough to know that I could relate to this. I haven't really watched a South Park since they came out (some guy I used to sit across at work, ruined it for all of us early on) but the episode had its share of good lines and plots. But my favorite was the homages to Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. Man, I had completely forget how much I loved this show and how I watched it religiously.
It also reminds me of how much of a hottie Erin Gray was back them for the pre-teen to teen populous that watched the show. The clip shown here is ever burned in my brain since it features Wilma being all sexy-like. (How did they decide Wilma was going to be a sexy name in the 25th century, by the way?) But then in the next camera cut, we're presented with the most atrocious makeup job of a mysterious space vampire. Think if Nesfaratu and Bert of Sesame Street decided to have a baby. What an incredibly ridiculous episode.
So to cleanse the mental palette, I leave you with the opening to Buck
Rogers featuring that inspiring theme music. Believe it or not, I had
the motion picture soundtrack to Buck Rogers and there were lyrics that
went along with the music.
